Subscribe to the Network Partner newsletter to get updates on future funding opportunities.

NOTE: As of 27 June 2020, Network Partners interested in applying for funding to start up their digital skills program are encouraged to apply for the $2,500 Building Digital Skills grant.

Activation grants are one-off grants awarded to new organisations joining the Be Connected Network.

The Activation grant is designed to get you started in the Be Connected Network, and for the funding, we expect partners to register the minimum number of learners as per your grant term on the Be Connected Learning Portal or through CaptureIT.

Funding can be spent on anything that will help you support older Australians to gain digital skills, including new devices, broadband fees, or expenses for digital mentors or volunteers.

Activation grants are assessed and funding awarded on a monthly basis.

Upgrading technology to better help your community

Derrinallum Library spent their Activation grant funding on new equipment to maximise the benefit of resources already in the library.

Am I eligible?

In order to apply for this funding, you must:

  • Be a Be Connected Network Partner. If you're not already part of the Network, click here to join.

What can the grant be used for?

The funding can be spent on activities that support older Australians to gain basic digital skills and confidence such as:

  • new devices including computers, laptops, tablets, smart phones
  • upgrading software for devices
  • broadband fees
  • digital mentor expenses, including training to be a digital mentor
  • printing of learning materials for older Australian learners
  • police checks for all staff and mentors involved in delivering the Be Connected

The funding cannot be used on building materials and capital works.

What do I have to do for the grant?

Each organisation receiving an Activation grant will be required to support older Australians through face-to-face contact, either one-on-one or in small groups, to gain basic digital skills and confidence over a maximum of a 10 month period. This will be measured by registrations and learning on the Be Connected learner website.

All Network Partners will be required to complete a short monthly survey and be prepared to share learner journeys and good news stories so that Good Things Foundation can create case studies.
