Remote learning at Ballarat North Neighbourhood Centre

Helping communities stay connected

With the COVID-19 situation escalating across the country and many organisations in our Network now closed, we are so heartened to hear so many stories of Network Partners finding new and creative ways to continue to deliver digital skills support remotely. We know in these difficult times, digital skills are essential for keeping people who are socially isolated connected with their friends, family and community. Find out how we can support your organisation during this time.

A story from Ballarat North Neighbourhood Centre

After the closure of their centre, Ballarat North Neighbourhood Centre’s digital mentor, Greg, was tasked with finding a new and creative way to continue to engage with their members.

“Rather than leave our students in the lurch we played with the idea of offering a class online. After some research, we settled on Zoom. Zoom offered us the facilities we needed and it was relatively easy to set up and get participants online.”

Their first class was held on 23 March and it was a tremendous success. So much so that students are now keen to continue running it whilst we are all confined to our homes.  “Desperate times call for creative adjustments and that is just what we did.”
